Jonathan Buka

Dr. Jonathan Buka is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist. He completed an internship in general medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, after attending medical school at the University of Cincinnati. Upon completing his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Chicago/Michael Reese Hospital, he studied advanced training in refractive surgery with a leading world expert, Dr. Charles Casebeer. Dr. Buka specializes in cataract surgery, LASIK and following patients with diabetes and glaucoma. Board certified, Dr. Buka is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons. He is a local leader in the use of Femtosecond Lasers for the advanced management of cataracts. He is currently on staff at Christ Hospital, Hinsdale Hospital, Hinsdale Surgical Center, Tinley Woods Surgery Center and Munster Community Hospital.

Dr. Birva Shah is a residency- trained optometrist specializing in pediatric optometry, contact lenses and general optometry. Her professional interests include management of strabismus/amblyopia, ocular disease and specialty contact lenses. In addition to her work at Eye Specialist Group, LLC., Dr. Shah is also on staff at The University of Chicago Hospital. Dr. Shah earned her undergraduate degree at Loyola University in Chicago. She completed her Optometric training at the Illinois College of Optometry, where she later did her residency in pediatric/ binocular vision. Dr. Shah is an active member of the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric association and the Illinois College of Optometry. She is involved with the prestigious Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group, a collaborative network dedicated to facilitating multi-center clinical research and strabismus, amblyopia and other eye disorders that affect children. Dr. Shah has been, and continues to be, involved with various community outreach programs and vision screening.
